T.I - Big Shit Poppin (Two Fresh Remix) [Bass Filled Hip Hop Remix] + Ariel Pink's - Bright Lit Blue Skies (Two Fresh Rework) [Glitched-Out Bass Remix]

No, I'm not going to cover Skrillex's newest EP Bangerang. All I have to say about it, after a full listen, is that Skrillex continues to prove that he is the Nickleback of bass music.

Moving on, today I'll be looking at a few tracks from the other headliner of the No Antitdote Tour - Two Fresh. It has always confused me how twin brothers Sherwyn and Kendrick Nicholl, who make up Two Fresh, have made it to major touring spots with bass monsters such Skrillex and Nit Grit, but not because of a lack of musical ability. The main reason it's interesting that they commonly accompany dubstep DJs - is that they are anything but. Known for hip-hop influenced grooves and laid back bass, they convey a much different feeling than the in-your-face aggressiveness of modern bass music. Don't get me wrong, I like Two Fresh - a lot - especially because of their impressive live show that includes very talented drummer Colby Buckler, but I think some people may be confused about them based on the bills they land themselves on.

To give you a good idea of their unique sound, I tried to pick out two tracks that show Two Fresh's style and influences. The first, a remix of T.I.'s Big Shit Poppin, takes the well-known acepella and infuses it with the laid back bass that Two Fresh delivers so well. The second is a remix of Ariel Pink's Bright Lit Blue Skys that takes the original gives it a glitchy bass rework.

Zed's Dead Live Set Review - 11/23 Roseland Theater Portland, OR

Oh Zed’s Dead at the Roseland, what a hectic night you were. I’ve never been happier that I had a paper ticket to a show and if I’d opted for will call, I doubt I would have even gotten in. Portland’s resident EDM promoter, Red Cube, was apparently unaware that the site Wanttickets.com was selling tickets to the show and as a result ended up overselling the venue capacity by over 100 tickets. When I showed up 30 minutes before Zed’s Dead’s set, the door of the venue was in absolute chaos. Only by holding my paper ticket high in the air and pushing through the mob of will call patrons desperately trying to get in was I able to make it into the building.

And boy was I glad I did.

Nit Grit - Euthanizing A Dream [Chill Melodic Dubstep] + Bonus: The Kids Are Cruel [Drum & Bass]

Announcing a 40 date tour is a huge step forward for Nit Grit, a young San Jose based dubstep producer who only began doing live performances in March of last year. Despite his relative lack of touring experience, the extremely unique nature of his music and unanimously high quality of his tracks more than warrant his headlining spot. Unlike many dubstep producers who's tracks rely solely on generic build ups and aggressive bass-filled drops, Nit Grit weaves a complex emotional journey into each one of his songs. His style can lean towards euphoric melody, grimy basslines, or anything in between and each production maintains a flow that is sure to immerse any listener. Today I have an older Nit Grit track, one of my favorites, titled Euthanizing a Dream which falls on the chiller side of his style, but is still sure to please any bass lover.

As a bonus I also have Nit Grit's latest release The Kids Are Cruel. This one is more of an experimental Drum & Bass track, but it still maintains the quality of all of his productions and its fun to see him going in new and different directions.

The Future Of EDM in 2012

With the new year fast approaching, its becoming more and more apparent how much EDM culture is set to erupt in popularity throughout 2012. From Electro Beach Spring Break to Holy Ship! EDM cruises and a slew of major EDM tours that would take a full page to link, its clear that millions of dollars are being risked on the continued growth of the genre. Due to this massive increase in live performances and nationwide tours, I thought it was only appropriate that I share tracks from artists on recently announced early 2012 tours. First off I'll be covering Nit Grit & Two Fresh who just announced they will be touring the U.S from Feb. - April 2012 on the "No Antidote Tour".

Spencer & Hill & Nadia Ali - Believe It (Cazzette Andriods Sound Hot Remix) [Dub Infused Electro House]

Its no secret that 22-year-old producer Avicii is quickly becoming a household name in the EDM community. With shows selling out almost immediately for $50 or more a ticket, his success is thanks in no small part to his Swedish management company, At Night Management. While Avicii's mixes are rocking raves around the world, At Night's other client - Cazzette - is also burning up the scene with a slew of high quality remixes featuring his dub infused electro - house style that is ready for anything from the club to the arena. Today I have one of the latest of these remixes, done for Spencer & Hill's Believe It Ft. Nadia Ali, that manages to take the already epic song, injects some sexy android bass and take the whole thing to a new level. A sonic onslaught of highly refined basses, driving melodies and powerful drums this one is certain to get the party started!

Madeon - Icarus (Original Mix) [Funky French House / Electro - Pop]

Time to get funky and I don't use that term lightly. We're talkin' brand new Madeon funky! If you aren't farmilar, Madeon is a seventeen year old French house / electro - pop artist who has recently been blowing up on the scene. He's known for high production value, complex live sets and almost single-handedly bringing funky house back into the public eye. With this quality comes a long wait between each of his official releases, but luckily I was able to snag this very high quality rip of his latest original - Icarus. Thank you Pete Tong for the first play and hopefully this one will be released soon.

Burman - Take Me Away Ft. Jessica Jean (Original Mix) [Chilled Out Vocal Dubstep]

Everyone needs a good laid back track to relax for the weekend and the hectic holidays ahead and today I've got the perfect song. Unfortunately I couldn't find out much about the artist, Burman, but his new release Take Me Away ft. Jessica Jean on Cleopatra records shows he may be one to watch in the coming months. The track has an extremely mellow feel with expertly mixed vocals and smooth basses that could bring anyone back from even the worst of days. If you're sick of holiday shopping, or just finished up with finals, turn this one up and lose yourself in some fully immersive music!

Specimen A - Sly Ft. Miss Trouble (Original Mix) [Vocal Dubstep Banger]

Its Saturday night and I've got just the banger to get the party started right. Brothers Phil and Mo Jones, AKA Specimen A, just released their latest collaboration with vocalist Miss Trouble entitled Sly. Showcasing Specimen A's producing prowess, Sly is an impressive mix of shuffling drums, soaring vocals and filthy baselines that come together to form a track that almost any dubstep fan can appreciate. So get this one on your best speaker system, turn it up and get fully immersed!

Moleman - Threshold by Moleman DnB

Moleman - Threshold (Original Mix) [Liquid Dnb / Dubstep]

Sorry that I was unable to get anything up today, but I was busy seeing some family and supporting my young friend Glass Popcorn in Arizona. I plan to make up for it though with an onslaught of content in the next few days! To start things off, I have a great track from one of my favorite liquid dnb / dubstep producers - Moleman. The title song off his latest EP, Treshold masterfully mixes a calm guitar riff and liquid feel with a dirty dubstep bassline to create a sonic experience that is good for both relaxation and raging. Turn this one up regardless of your mood and let it take you away into full immersion!

Dirty South & Thomas Gold - Alive Ft. Katie Elsworth (Alesso Remix) [Progressive House Anthem]

What a wonderful Sunday afternoon, not only are the holidays right around the corner, but Sebastian Ingrosso's protegee and rising house sensation Alesso's latest remix just hit the web. For this one, he reworked well known house producer Dirty South and fellow rising star Thomas Gold's original collaboration - Alive Ft. Katie Elsworth. I'm personally a big fan of the original mix, but Alesso's more progressive take on the track uses the vocals beautifully and creates a much more anthem worthy melody that reflects his unique style. Whether your looking to relax, or get a party on their feet this track is guaranteed to please.

Skrillex - All I Ask of You Ft. Penny (The S Remix) [High Energy Electro House]

I was going to save this one for tomorrow, but I couldn't resist sharing some great electro - house before the night is out. Skrillex's All I Ask of You Ft. Penny was one of my favorite songs off Scary Monsters, but I always felt like it was missing something. Luckily, Italian duo The S just released a massive electro - house remix that infuses a whole new energy into the track. It still builds with the chill vibes and smooth vocals that made the original great, but then it pulls out all the stops and drops into a massive electro assault that is sure to get the party moving! Stand up, crank up the volume and feel the energy because this one is certain to fully immerse you.

Adele - Set the Rain on Fire (Stratus Remix) [Heavy Melodic Dubstep]

The other track I have from Stratus is his remix of Adele's Set the Rain on Fire. While it seems Adele has been remixed to death, Stratus brings a fresh new vibe to the track. He uses well structured synths and basslines reminiscent of Flux Pavilion's sound to accent Adele's epic vocals and create a track that could smash any dance floor. So sit back, relax, and become fully immersed!

Deadmau5 and Kaskade - I Remember (Stratus Remix) [Bass Infused Remix of a Classic House Track]

Today I've got a few tracks from a new up-and-coming producer out of Chicago, IL - Stratus. Overall, Stratus' sound is extremely diverse and he not only produces multiple genres, but also commonly blends them in a single track. His remix of Deadmau5 and Kaskade's house epic I Remember is the perfect example. He builds the track with glitched out sampling from the original that maintains a progressive house feel while still giving the track a lot of energy. By the time the drop comes around there are elements of house, glitch and dubstep that all meld together to form a fully immersive track!

Rostik - Serendipity [Melodic Dubstep]

A new favorite of mine, English dubstep producer Rostik creates a unique melodic sound he describes as "a rare combination of 8 bit and orchestral influences." This track, Serendipity, injects powerful drums and a huge, grinding bassline into a euphoric synth melody to create a high energy track that you can't help but move to.
